Over the years the press releases from OCE have been very frequent at least a few times a month or in some cases once a week. The last OCE press release I picked up was December 16th, there may have been a few I missed, but this tells me the transfer here in the US is underway. Does anyone else have an internal news on Oce and Canon?

Company also Announces Launch of Canon Business Process Services, and Integration of other Océ Entities into Canon Americas Companies, Effective January 1, 2013

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Dec 4, 2012 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the launch of Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., effective January 1, 2013. Integrating the business operations of
Canon Business Solutions, Inc., Océ North America, Inc., and Océ Imagistics, Inc., this new name is reflective of the integration of Océ, first announced in 2010. Canon Solutions America will provide sales and support for Canon and Océ hardware, software and services targeting general office, production print and large format markets in the United States.

Joe Adachi, president and CEO of Canon U.S.A., will serve as chairman and CEO of Canon Solutions America. "I am very pleased that the integration of the Canon and Océ businesses is nearly complete," said Mr. Adachi. "We have worked very hard these past three years to make sure our goal of creating the overall leading presence in the imaging industry will be realized. Canon really bought OCE for 3 reasons:
1) The CopyPress technology in the Production print arena. There is nothing like it on the market. Along with the PrisaSync controller. There is also Prisma Prepare & Prisma Access. That is when Canon released the VarioPrint 110,120,135 line that uses the OCE engine and Canon peripherals. I have customer that ran close to 4 million impressions in 3.5 months with 2 service calls. There is NOTHING in the price range of $30K that can do that.

2) OCE is the leader in wideformat arena when it comes to a toner based system. Many large engineering depts use the PlotWaves. There is the entire line of b/w & color PlotWave products. Canon had nothing in its portfolio in this arena.

3) The very large base of global accounts and up and down the street accounts. All the legacy gear in the global accounts is being switched to Canon now.

With this acquisition Canon will have a solid hold at #1 in our industry for many years to come.

There is no Canon direct in the US but there is in Canada.

You meant direct Oce right?
