Are there any shortcomings with the B&W MFP's playing with Novell? Have a meeting coming up, and I must admit, I almost never see Novell in my area. Talked to our IT guy, (not Novell Certified), and he said he was unaware of any issues. I just wanted to put the feelers out to you guys, and see what I get. I really dont want to put my foot in my mouth later on. I recently lost a bid in this account, and have heard some grumblings related to network promises made by the competitive rep. Any features lost that any of you are aware of? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Our technicians are Novell Certified. I'll forward your question to them and see what transpires. In fact, I will be installing a 3025 SPF as soon as it arrives from Ricoh, and it will be on a Novell network.

We placed the order Monday; so, it will probably be here one day next week. When is your meeting?
Here is the response from my tech:

The copier interactivity with Novell will be only in a printing environment if you want Novell to act as the print server for the copier. There is a NDPS gateway (a Novell print server software) for Ricoh devices that can be downloaded from Ricoh’s web-site. Other that that, it only will act as a file storage medium. No software, other than the Ricoh NDPS gateway, will be loaded to it like scanrouter, fax print driver, etc… You would have to have a windows pc loaded with scanrouter and point it to a Novell mapped drive to have scanned files show up on the Novell box. Some people just bypass the Novell platform and use the existing TCP/IP network and load appropriate software to print via TCP/IP to the copier directly from the pc, not involving Novell whatsoever. There are some new improvements (connectivity to Novell) that I am being told by Ricoh that would eliminate the need for that scanrouter pc. You might want to talk to tech support to verify and get the latest scoop on that though.
Thanks Darth, this is the kind of stuff Im talking about. I really appreciate your input. My meeting will be next week sometime, and I hopefully will find out about my competitors shortcomings. Thanks, I figured that is how the scanning to Novell would need to be setup, I just havent done it! LOL Thanks again!
