ST. CLOUD — Marco, a St. Cloud-based provider of copiers, printers and business IT services, is expanding its footprint in Michigan. The company has purchased Prime Office Innovations, a copier and printer company based in Macomb, Michigan.

This is Marco's 12th acquisition in the past two years. The company took its first leap into the Michigan marketplace in March when it purchased Governor Business Solutions.

CEO Jeff Gau said the purchase sets Marco up to "instantly become one of the primary players in the Detroit market."

The recent acquisition is in line with the company's purchasing plans. Gau said in March that Marco's "typical strategy is to acquire a business in a key market and add several more to cover the state."

"Now we have to look at Grand Rapids and other key cities in Michigan," Gau said.

Historically, Marco has grown about 20 percent each year, but 2018 is on track to exceed those expectations.

"I'd like to see us come in closer to 25-26 percent this year," Gau said. "We're in good shape to do it, we're ahead of goal with a lot of runway left."

Prime's 20 employees will join Marco's team and serve clients from its current location in Macomb, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit. Prime Office Innovations has been providing its clients with copier and printer solutions since 2002.

Marco started out as a small typewriter shop in St. Cloud. The company now specializes in copiers and printers, business IT services, managed services and cloud services. Marco has 1,180 employees serving more than 32,000 customers at 50 locations throughout the Midwest and nationally.
