ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sep 30, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Xerox Corporation /quotes/comstock/13*!xrx/quotes/nls/xrx (XRX 10.35, +0.00, +0.03%) continues its leadership in managed print services (MPS). According to research firm IDC's recent Worldwide and U.S. Outsourced Print and Document Services Forecast and Analysis(1), the company is the frontrunner in the global managed print services market based on worldwide revenue for 2009.

The IDC report, which analyzes document outsourcing vendors across a number of segments including MPS and business process outsourcing (BPO) services, states the worldwide revenue for the MPS market was $7.78 billion in 2009, representing growth of 8.1 percent. Xerox captured the largest market share among competing vendors with 48.5 percent.

"Xerox's sizeable market share lead can be attributed to its efforts in extending traditional managed print services across the enterprise to include not only the office, but in-house production print and mobile worker support," said Michael Orasin, research manager at IDC.

According to IDC, MPS allows companies of all sizes to focus on the infrastructure costs associated with printing. A well executed MPS program can cut costs up to 30 percent, increase productivity, support regulatory compliance and improve environmental sustainability.

As the market leader in MPS, Xerox was first to offer Enterprise Print Services (EPS) to embrace all elements of an organization's print infrastructure -- from the networked office to the in-house print center to the virtual worker. Companies across all sectors are benefiting from Xerox's proven MPS approach, including:

Solaris Health System, in Edison, N.J. is deploying a Xerox MPS strategy to reduce IT infrastructure costs by more than 20 percent across its network of seven healthcare facilities. The health system is using Xerox's expertise in business process outsourcing to improve the flow of information through its medical network by integrating document management strategies with existing health information system (HIS) applications and technology. Huntington National Bank will reap significant cost savings using MPS to better control the way documents are printed, shared and updated at the bank's headquarters and across more than 600 branch locations. Huntington also plans to roll out Xerox EPS so its virtual workforce will benefit from the same support system offered in the office. The Rialto Unified School District signed on for Xerox EPS to save hundreds of thousands of dollars in document- related costs. Using Xerox's "print governance" feature, the newest addition to the company's MPS portfolio, Rialto will bump savings to nearly half a million dollars by better managing print across its 25 buildings. QinetiQ, a leading defense technology and security company, based in the U.K., cut energy usage and greenhouse gases by 44 percent with its Xerox MPS strategy. Xerox also helped QinetiQ improve security and compliance with radio-frequency identification (RFID) employee tags to promote secure printing, copying and faxing, as well as a new smart scanning facility using optical character recognition technology to monitor the scanning of inappropriate or confidential content.

"Businesses continue to seek out Xerox for MPS because we are unmatched when it comes to execution. We deliver on our commitments of cost savings and productivity -- regardless of a company's size, geographic location or current print vendor," said Stephen Cronin, president, Global Document Outsourcing, Xerox.

Recently recognized as a leader in IDC's 2010 MPS MarketScape report(2), Xerox is also well positioned to capitalize on the growth of document outsourcing through its BPO offerings. With ACS, A Xerox Company, Xerox is now the world's leading enterprise for business process and document management.
