I just had the chance to look over the specs of the new KIP 700M. Suggested Retail of $13,995 with color scan (can someone verify this).

I'm really not sure on some of the options that are avaialable right now, the kip brochure mentions that the "KIP Color Direct" is optional and it enables Color Scan and Color Copy to Inkjet printer (again need some clarification on this).

I love the price point if the $13,995 is true for having the color scan option, as a matter of fact, even if it's not included the $13,995 is a great price point for single roll 3 "D" per minute. I also read is that you can print and scan to the USB which is pretty awesome for the user who just needs a copier and will print and scan occassionaly.

What set me back on the unit is that I didn't see a scan2email option, and my first thoughts without seeing the unit is that the color lcd display is small (however so was the screen on the Ricoh 240W). Another item was the exit area for the orginals it seems once you feed the page in you'll have to wait for the scan to finish and then remove that page before you can insert another. The scan speed is up to 35 feet per minute (@ 200 dpi) or just a little over 2 feet in 4 seconds (might need someone to check this too), thus I think this is accetable for this size system.

In order to print pdf's you'll need the optional "KIP PDF Printing" option (does anyone have the cost of this option).

Here's another question for everyone, will the 700M out of the box scan2pdf (I think it does, just want to make sure).

There's an optional paper tray capable of holding up to 20 18x24 sheets.

Summary:

As I have yet to see this system in action and have not had the time to review the op manual, nor am I clear on whats included or not included for "x" price. I'm still gonna give this system a thumbs up and a "wish I was able to sell this system". This system should sell very well in the low volume market place and should be able to replace many wide format inkjet printers where the clients need was for a mono output device.

Would love to hear from others on this thread and would love to have the answers to my questions, I'm gonna have to sell against this system with my Ricoh's that have no color scanner and a MSRP of $19K, just hoping that I'm not gonna get my ass kicked in my market place.
