I saw this system demo'd @ Ricoh several years ago. Its development name is Ruby. As you can see from the picture, it is the same design style as the JP5000/5450, thus an older unit, not new. It also only supports UC6 and CPIF26, because it does not have the updated main board to support the Type 80.
The product was deemed not suitable for the US market due to the fact that is doesn't have a large capacity exit tray to match the LCT, and the sorter limits you to run lengths of 40 per original or less. It did have an automatically adjusting exit tray, based on a standard paper size being selected. The sorter was OK, but smearing has always been an issue with online sorters delivering the sheets face down. With the iminent launch of the SeriPrinter, maybe sorting will be revisited. Also, a large capacity feed and receive is almost ready to launch (so the little birdies tell me).
A SeriPrinter arrived at my office today, for us to play with and support at the SGIA trade show next week, so I'll post a review, as time permits.
Cheers,
Jim Stocker
