FAIRFIELD, N.J. – January 20, 2011 – Kyocera Mita America, Inc., one of the world's leading document solutions companies, is fulfilling a growing business imaging need with the launch of two new black and white TASKalfa Multifunctional Products (MFPs). Both new devices, the TASKalfa 305/255, are designed to include all the features businesses require most, with the added benefit of being highly simplified in their operation.

With this launch, Kyocera is also providing businesses the chance to incorporate the robust features and functionality of an A3 MFP, but within the configuration and price point of an A4 MFP-based platform – with no sacrifice to image quality or performance.

Because Kyocera has identified this need among business users, the company is supporting today’s launch with a broad, nationwide advertising and marketing campaign under the banner of “Innovation Made Simple”. According to company executives, this new series of TASKalfa MFPs will deliver the unique Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) benefits of Kyocera award-winning technology.

“No other manufacturer can offer a product of this quality and functionality, at such an attractive price point,” said Michael Pietrunti, president and CEO, Kyocera Mita America. “We believe this is a product with broad market appeal, as innovation continues to be defined not by adding features, but by the ability to streamline technology in a way that makes it work for the end-user”.

These two new Kyocera MFPs incorporate Kyocera’s SMARTtech, which is defined as: Simple Management and Replacement Technology. SMARTtech helps put the customer in command of their business by increasing productivity, and overall ease of use. Among SMARTtech’s benefits, are:

Easy to print, copy, color scan and fax
Delivering the Lowest Total Cost of Ownership in its Class
Incredibly easy to operate
Ultra reliable for maximum uptime
SMARTtech Delivers Peace of Mind with Flexible and Versatile Features

Designed with the information and document security needs of businesses as a priority, the new Kyocera MFPs come equipped with RAM-based memory of 512MB, upgradable to 1536MB. This means that once the device is turned off, all resident data is eliminated. There is no hard disk drive to retain sensitive data indefinitely, which could be deemed a security risk and require additional processes to ensure strategic businesses mandates are met.

The new MFPs integrate also with Active Directory, which allows administrators and compliance officers to give access only to those individuals with pre-approved credentials. The TASKalfa 305 and TASKalfa 255 can also be configured with Kyocera’s Card Authentication Kit to limit physical access control via HID/Prox. Additionally, these MFPs also offer a secure print feature that requires passwords for output directly at the device

True to Kyocera Mita imaging technology standards, the TASKalfa 305 and TASKalfa 255 feature exceptional printing, color scanning and copying, as well as optional Super G3 fax/network fax for high speed document delivery. Other features include:

Monochrome output speeds of 30 pages per minutes (ppm) and 25 ppm respectively
Standard automatic duplex, optional 1,600 sheet maximum paper capacity, optional ability to accommodate heavier paper stock (up to 140 lb Index).
A standard 50-sheet document processor with several scanning options, including Scan-to-Email using the built in LDAP feature or QWERTY keyboard available from the color touch screen control panel.
Kyocera’s patented long-life consumable technology, with maximum business “uptime” and maintenance through a class leading 300,000 page preventive maintenance (PM) schedule.
The SMARTtech TASKalfa 305 and TASKalfa 255 MFPs are available now through authorized Kyocera Mita dealers, at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $5,879 and $4,679 respectively. Set up the 305 for our showroom on Friday. I am very impressed with this machine. This is a very well thought out machine and is very well positioned in the market. The set up is so easy you could direct ship the machine to end users and they could unbox it and set it up themselves. Once the machine self calibrates it opens up a wizard in the display to guide the customer thru the network set-up. Very slick. It should also be foolproof to service as all pm kit items are color coded and easily click into place. The customer could probably do their own PM on this machine.....its that simple. Very impressed.
Its so easy to set up that the new models have already emerged in Europe in IT channel configurations identified as the FS-6025MFP and FS-6030MFP.

We'll see about the US since this is not very dealer friendly from a service revenue perspective, but interesting none the less and a testament to how easy to maintain it is.
