I have a customer telling me that about once a week they need to completely reboot the controller PC after it locks up when they are doing a lot of scanning. Anyone else have this problem?

I have had alot more customers need to reboot this system moreso than the 470w. A dumb question: are they rebooting the PC daily or do they just let it go to sleep mode? Obviously, the PC needs to be rebooted to clear the cache of old print jobs and scans.
Try Defragging the hard drive. Doing so cleared up some major malfunctions for me on more than one system.
Check the SSL and CFG folders for print jobs that may be corrupted.
I have a customer that has to reboot all the time. They are not happy with the 240 for this reason.

When you say "this system" what system are you speaking of?
I've had one customer call with problems locking up on a 480w. Called Ricoh and they said something to look at was RAM in the PC.
Another thing that came up was Video Cards, you know the new ones (unless you get a good one) all use "Shared Video Memory" which means it steals the RAM from the PC. So if you have 512mb in your PC the Video Card could be stealing 128 of it, leaving you with only 384.
I'm upgrading this customer to 2GB of RAM, will see if it changes anything.
My customer realized on their own what the problem was in their particular case (lots of scanning thoroughout the day, system locking up): THEY WERE WAITING TOO LONG BETWEEN INSERTING THE ORIGINALS TO BE SCANNED, AND SCANTOOL HAD TIMED OUT. Hope this helps...I made my day !!!
