In my opinion, Ricoh really doesn't have a "printer" per se' that will accomplish this. I would place a Kyocera FS9520 system in there as a printer for that kind of volume. You might be able to screech by with an AP4510, but I wouldn't do it because I think that is just working it too hard. In HP, they are going to recommend an HP 9000 printer to do that volume. As far as Ricoh goes, I don't know that you can do anything but try to talk him in to a 1055 copier device to do that volume in Ricoh.

On the 5si, there is a bunch of stuff to replace that with, PROVIDED that you don't need to use MICR toner in it.

Hope that helps.
Mike:

There are too many varibales here. I would ask these questions first.

  • What are they currently using to produce the one box of paper per day?
  • So, I'm correct in assuming that your volume is 100,000 pages a month?
  • How many sheets are in the box of paper and what type of paper are you using?
  • When printing are you producing multiple pages of one page? If so how many pages per?

Depending on how they answer will dictate where I would go with this.

My gut reaction is that maybe I can sell them an HG connected 600 x 600 dpi Duplicator. This will surely handle the volume day in and day out.

The other is to present them with a "bank" of laser printers. The 4510's will do a great job here. I would propose four to five to handle the jobs and then combine them with the parrallel print feature of Smart Net (if thats what we are calling it today).

Please let me know how this pans out.
