We took them on as well.  Our showroom is split in two.....Ricoh on the Right and Samsung on the Left.

So Mr Customer to your right we have the $8,000 Ricoh Color Copier.....To your left we have the Comparable Samsung Color Copier.  By the way Mr Customer the comparable Samsung will cost you $2,000 less.  They both do the same damned thing.....in fact the Samsung does even more.....Watch this Mr Customer....on this Samsung I can scan a document to our smartboard and it will open up in Microsoft Word ready for you to begin editing.  If you want that feature on the Ricoh....I might be able to make it happen but it will require an optional such and such and will require software with an annual license and it may not work anyway.....  So Mr Customer which product would you like to go with?????

WOW, that's an awesome feature for the Sammy, what else can they do>

The Samsung machines are very impressive.  I am not an easy person to impress.  Great touchscreen and the menus make sense to the customer.  Searchable PDF, OCR and a workflow app similar to DigiDocFlow right out of the box.  The machines are well built on par or better than anything competitors like Sharp or Toshiba have out there.  They really do have a lot to offer and the pricing is incredible.  We brought on Samsung as our secondary line.  As for Ricoh, I hope they step it up on the dealer side and with the equipment cause I can see a lot of places where the Samsung is going to be a better fit for the customers.

It has been six months since my original post and I wanted to give you all and update on how things are going with Samsung. I have received some positive feedback from BOTH my sales & service side of the house.

One of the statistics that came up is with the first 50 Samsungs that we have placed in the field only one had any significant issue. The Service Dept reports that they are running well, and so far have not required many parts. S Service seems to be happy with the product.

While I realize that it is still early, I will have to say that our experience with the Samsung products seems to validate what we had heard from other Dealers.

If your Dealership is considering picking up this product, you should start talking to Samsung ASAP. We are happy that we did!

Merry Christmas,

        Vince

Very happy here as well.

I really like them on the IT side.  The more I learn the product the more I am impressed in this area.  I love the way you can test settings from the web browser.  Also love the various scanning set-up options you have.

On the sales side the price point is where it should be which makes it an easy sale compared to Ricoh for my lower volume customers.  Also their version of aficio league pays out very well which is leading me to push their product more and more as margins on hardware get squeezed.

We're a full-line Canon dealer (table top through production) and have been a Samsung dealer now for a little under 2 years.  There have been some bumps in the road, but nothing that I'd tell anyone to not bring their products on board.  Samsung is a well oiled machine when it comes to how large corporations run.  While they're still learning the ropes of the copier industry (don't have the tenure like Canon or Ricoh), they're a South Korean company and do things a lot differently than the Japanese.  One thing that has impressed me is the number of long time employees that jumped ship from Ricoh, Canon, Kyocera, etc to come work for the "new kid on the block".  All were attracted by the growth potential and the technology Samsung brings to the table.  Whether attending their national sales conference or talking with the Samsung folks who have come in, there's a different buzz than the others.

It'll be interesting come the first half when the new Galaxy pad driven devices come out.  Interesting to see how they compete against everyone else but more importantly, interesting to see where the new pricing comes out to be.  Right now we're able to offer VERY aggressive pricing on A3 color boxes, but that all could change with this new unit.  Stay tuned......
