Man facing eight years in copier theft

A Crete, Ill., man accused of stealing a copier from a Valparaiso church by paying for it with a $2,500 fake check faces up to eight years in prison at a Sept. 14 trial.

Antonio Phillips, 32, also known as Raymond Cull, has been charged with three felonies — fraud on a financial institution, forgery and theft.

His initial hearing was Tuesday.

Valparaiso Nazarene Church advertised the copier online at craigslist, and Phillips claimed to be Raymond Cull from Believer’s Church in Matteson, Ill.
