ok, here we go, I am cutting and pasting from a KIP forum I found

Question:Is it possible to print a multipage PDF from the current (pre 6.0) Windows Print Driver, and output all the sheets? If so, does it matter what print engine? (We have many customers on legacy print engines: 2710, 2720, 7095, etc).

If not with 5.5 rev files, how about with 6.0?

I have read the training documentation on DWF support and see that the option for HDP/6.0 would be to publish to DWF and then print via 6.0 Request.

Answer:The answer is no from request and yes from the full version of adobe.

If you have the full version of adobe you can print multy page files from the windows driver

Question:Kip 3000, is it true Adode PS3 (certified by Adobe)???
or does it use 3rd party?? if so which one??
does it support newer PDF version 1.6, 1.7 ????

Answer:It is not Adobe Postscript or PDF, it uses Ghostscript to do the conversion. I am not sure if it works with 1.6 or 1.7, I guess the easiest way is to try it
Question:alright so heres the deal. i got a call from a client. they have some TIFFs that they scanned in. they went to view them and the M$ fax and picture viewer opened the file. the image was shown upside down and so the rotated it to view the image in a more easily recognizable manner.

well they then close the P&F viewer without saving the file. when they then attempt to plot the image from request, it gives an error. it says it is an unrecognized file type.

i got a copy of the file and tested it out . same thing. i then converted from a tiff to a tiff and the ABC software. request was able to recognize and plot the tiff again.

so heads up people.

Answer:Well known issue. The MS picture viewer in XP will re-compress the file if it's altered in any way. I believe it uses an LZW compression which is NOT supported by Kip.
Question:Does anyone know how to adjust the scaling? I have the manual and all it says is cut length. The problem with the machine is that if you measure 3 feet, it is off a 1/4 inch and it get larger the longer the print.

Any help will be appreciated.

Reply:I have a 3000 that the scale is off but only scan to print. Machine plots 36x24 dead on no problems. Scan to print the page is 36x24, but the image on the print is stretched between a 1/4 and 3/8 inch. I did do a scan calibration and it's still off.

Reply:I looked pretty hard to find a way to do imaging scaling on this printer. There does not seem to be a way to check to see if the scaling is off on the printer or on the customer side. I did adjust the customer software and the problem is better. My files that I use to run test prints off my notebook are fine on other 3000's but this one they are off. I hope there is a firmware update to correct this.
Question:How do I set a 3000 to "exact" ?
I set it in unattend and it still switches to the 30" roll when it runs out of 36" etc...
Am I missing something simple?
I don't see any setting in the 3000 user interface.

Reply:I too would like to know where this feature is, as we often will run out of a paper size and it automatically switches to the other, causing us a lot of trouble with having to trim on large projects.

Reply:Hopefully kip will provide a solution soon. I have been telling my users to select a "Enlarge/Reduce" size in Request before submitting. If you do this your machine will not autoswitch rolls on you. If they just select %100 it will go to the closest size.

Reply:Setting an Enlarge / Reduce will not cause the unattend to not switch rolls, it still will switch based on whether or not another size roll fits the image.

If you set unattend to exact, make sure that you turn off "Rotate Images for Least Paper Usage" This option conflicts with Exact, if you choose: "Rotate Images for Faster Printing" It will only pick rolls that fit the paper size perfectly. It will still print a 24" x 36" on either a 24" or 36" roll of paper though. If you want it to always print a D size on 36" paper then you have to use Force Size.
