As you know, the 240w meter counts in LINEAR feet, meaning it doesn't care how wide the paper is, it simply measures the length. The Océ systems measure in square feet and Ricoh would lead you to believe there is no difference other than a simple accounting procedure.

Running a 24x36 plot on the Océ results in 6 Square feet .04 per Sqft x 6 = 0.24

Running a 24x36 plot on the Ricoh results in 2 linear feet .12 per Lnft x 2 = 0.24

Same difference right? Try this out.

Running a 12x18 on the Océ results in 1.5 square feet .04 per Sqft x 1.5 = 0.06
Running a 12x18 on the Ricoh results in 1 linear foot .10 per Lnft x 1 = 0.10
If you run this same job from the paper tray it results in 1.5 linear feet for the same print or 0.15 per print.
