Lexmark retracts fix for security issue

Lexmark is a division of Ninestar of China

Announced that the firmware of more than 120 different Lexmark MFP/printer models suffer from a serious security vulnerability as reported by several industry publications
Hackers are able to hack into the Lexmark device by exploiting the weakness
Lexmark issued a firmware fix in early July, but withdrew the firmware due to issues, and has yet to publish new firmware to resolve the problem
“Unfortunately, as some customers experienced problems installing this original firmware, we have removed it from the website. We are currently testing a firmware upgrade that not only addresses the
vulnerability, but also fixes related to a Microsoft patch. We anticipate that the new firmware upgrade will be available by mid-September”
