Lexington science teacher receives INSPIRE: Lexmark’s Teaching Award

LEXINGTON, Ky., May 18, 2012 – Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE: LXK) this week honored a high school science teacher with INSPIRE: Lexmark’s Teaching Award. The program recognizes outstanding Central Kentucky area middle and high school science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) teachers.

Lexmark representatives surprised John Grieb, a biology teacher at Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Ky., with the INSPIRE award, presented in front of peers at the school.

Grieb teaches his students through inquiry based laboratories. This innovative teaching method puts the students in charge to construct their experiments, test their hypothesis and develop their conclusions. He finds fun and exciting ways to link scientific concepts to everyday experiences, enabling students to grasp challenging concepts more quickly and further their science knowledge.

Lexmark presented Grieb with a $1,000 award.

In order to be eligible for the INSPIRE award, a teacher must receive an online nomination as well as two reference letters from students, colleagues, parents, school administrators or community leaders. Eligible nominees must teach in one of the following Central Kentucky counties: Anderson, Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Scott and Woodford. Nominations can be made on the INSPIRE: Lexmark's Teaching Award page on Lexmark.com.
