Kyocera's production print device receives 70th Industrial Technology Award

Fairfield, NJ – September 30, 2020 - Kyocera Document Solutions Inc. is an honored recipient of the 70th Industrial Technology Award, sponsored by the Osaka Industrial Research Association.

The Industrial Technology Awards are bestowed to organizations that are members of the Osaka Industrial Research Association who promote science and technology and foster the development of young engineers and researchers. For those who have obtained this honorary membership, research and development, including future potential initiatives, are key contributions to industrialization in the advancement of society.

The award of the category “Print head maintenance technology using a cleaning solution supply system Development”, was awarded to Kyocera Document Solutions Inc., and is a new business unit launched in March 2020 to the Japanese domestic market. The print head of the TASKalfa Pro 15000c printer is a frontrunner of this automated technology of which Kyocera will continue developing in the long term.

The technology developed works to maintain the output quality of the inkjet printer by keeping the print head dry on the surface, while also removing ink and dirt to keep the printer clean. For this reason, the technology incorporates a unique cleaning solution that dissolves the dried ink, is applied to the head, which is fed from a special nozzle at the end of the head to the blade, thereby wiping the head surface clean. As a result, Kyocera has achieved a remarkable product benefit: the TASKalfa Pro 15000c can print up to 60 million pages* without maintenance.

‘‘One of the ways in which the efficiency and the performance quality of a production device is measured is by taking a close look at how much time is invested in its maintenance,’’ says Óscar Sánchez, President and CEO of Kyocera Document Solutions America. ‘‘Device downtime is not only expensive in terms of maintenance costs, but also in terms of valuable time lost. With the TASKalfa Pro 15000c, we put the best technology in the hands of the user to help them to get the most out of their device and to meet their print needs.”

Based on long-life technology that Kyocera has cultivated over many years within office printers and MFPs, the organization has commercialized an eco-friendly inkjet printer that requires less replacement parts. This is another step Kyocera has taken to advance society while minimizing environmental impact in the development of valuable products that offer exceptional reliability at a lower cost.
