Kyocera Mita America Expands Line of Monochrome ECOSYS Printers for Organizations Seeking Reliable, Cost-Effective Desktop Solutions

Enhanced printers provide superior quality and reliability at an affordable price
Fairfield, N.J., January 11, 2005 – Kyocera Mita America, one of the world's leading document imaging companies, today announced the addition of two cost-effective, network-capable printers to the company’s printer portfolio – the FS-820 and FS-920 monochrome ECOSYS printers.

A desktop solution designed to meet the printing demands of today’s fast-paced office environment, the FS-820 and FS-920 deliver 17 page per minute (ppm) and 19 ppm output, respectively. The printers feature true 600x600 dpi output, as well as an interpolated 1200x600 dpi output. In addition, the printers produce crisp text and image production, as well as the ability to print on a variety of paper stocks including 16-28 lb bond via the paper drawer, and 16 lb bond – 90 lb index via the multi-purpose tray. The FS-820 and FS-920 also have the ability to print on recycled paper, transparencies, labels and envelopes.
“In order to stay competitive, organizations need the flexibility and efficiency of affordable desktop printing without sacrificing quality,” said Richard Berberian, printer product marketing manager for Kyocera Mita America. “Our goal is to provide end-users with high performance, reliable products with a low total cost of ownership. The FS-820 and FS-920 are no exception – fast and productive, a low acquisition cost and low output costs result in increased efficiency and an improved bottom-line for any organization.”
The printers include a 250-sheet paper drawer (up to legal size) and a single sheet MPT. The FS-820 has a standard print memory of 16MB (upgradeable to 272MB), while the FS-920 comes standard with 32MB of printer memory (upgradeable to 288MB). In addition, the FS-820 supports major page description languages, including Kyocera’s PRESCRIBE and PCL6 (PCL XL, PCL5e). The FS-920 supports most major emulations, including Kyocera’s PRESCRIBE, PCL6 and KPDL3(PS3). Both printers can also be configured for seamless network integration with the addition of a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet external print service interface (The IB-100 external print server is scheduled to launch in Q2 of 2005).
These monochrome printers maintain Kyocera Mita America’s industry lowest total cost of ownership and commitment to reliability. The printers incorporate Kyocera’s mono-component ECOSYS printer technology, which allows toner to be replenished in the unit without disposal of the print drum. This not only cuts down the amount of waste, but also reduces toner replacement costs by two thirds compared to other printers.
Availability and Pricing
The FS-820 and FS-920 printers are available through authorized Kyocera Mita America resellers and independent dealers at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $399 for the FS-820 and $499 for the FS-920. Both printers weigh 20.3 lb.
