Konica Minolta and HID Global announced Konica Minolta’s new membership in the Advantage HID Connect Partner Program to advance secure print authentication solutions.

Backed by HID proximity and iCLASS technology access control cards, PIV and common access cards, Konica Minolta can now offer customers the added feature of using physical access cards for secure print authentication from their bizhub multifunctional products – print, copy, fax and scan all in one system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A proximity and HID iCLASS card authentication device connect directly to the USB port of Konica Minolta printers, allowing users to apply their HID card to authenticate them before releasing sensitive print information. Employees use physical access cards they already carry, thus eliminating the need to enter and maintain usernames and passwords, minimizing capital investment and controlling costs associated with print, copy and scan features.

HID Global recently acquired ActivIdentity, a provider in authentication and credential management, and has plans to embed ActivIdentity’s ActivClient into the bizhub printers, thereby enabling government and other high security users to protect their print jobs using their PIV or PIV compatible cards.
