Art and all,

A couple of months ago, Art had asked for some feedback. It was concerning press release information, but then the topic skewed. Members continued discussing message boards and discussion areas.

At that time, Chuck suggested: "How about having a true industry knowledge board where everyone share everything?"

Art repleid: "I would have to have then have to have permissions, we don't want Ricoh people having access to Kyocera threads and visa versa, do we?"

B1116 commented: "with the economy the way it is, it's probably very unlikely you will see many posts or comments from those in the industry that are taged to a manufacturer, or role within the organization."

Art explained: "Other than Ricoh members, there are almost 500 members that belong to Canon, Kyo, KonicaMInolta, Sharp, Toshiba, Sharp and Xerox. I'm not sure why they are not posting in the dedicated forums, most seem to be lurking (which is ok), I would like to see more activity in the other forums, however I can't force them to. Would opening up all of the forums make them post more? I'm not sure because they are not doing it now.

People need to stimulate the forums, ask questions in those dedicated forums and I'm sure others will then join in. It started that way many years ago with the Ricoh forums. All it take is one or two to get a forum going."

Art, I find your site extremely valuable. I must admit, I do check it often for updates. You have been a great source of information.

Maybe we can revisit this topic? It's only a thought, but I think all members should be able to view anything and share information about it. It maybe safe to say that although your point-of-view is: "...we don't want Ricoh people having access to Kyocera threads and visa versa, do we?" Either way, members know that you are privied to both the Ricoh and Kyocera information while those members are not. It's okay. It is your forum, so you may elect to post, access and organize what subject matter you want. However - and only a suggestion - I think we would all benefit if there was a true forum to share and speak our minds. Why do members need to be associated publically with a specific dealership, organization or manufacturer?

Thanks for your efforts Art. I know this forum is a lot of work! Just curious, what do you or other members think?

I think you are in for a pleasant surprise.

For the second part I've quoted here, I think the idea is that as long as I'm only telling Ricoh people about Ricoh strenght's and weaknesses, that's great, as soon as I tell a Xerox person, I'm educating my cometition.

What we need more of is open discussions for all. We're all in the same boat, whether we're selling Ricoh, Canon, Xerox, KonicaMinolta, Sharp...etc. Sharing our ideas how how to sell more, learn more about the competition, how certain third party software will enable a solution will all help us in the long run.

Having a better group effort will help all of us, there are only a handful of us that will stay at one dealership or one manufacturing for the term of our career.

I tend to think and have stated this to others that P4P members are the best in the indsutry, we eat sleep and breath the industry. Fact is 80% of the readers here are lurkers and don't post at all. I'm hoping a cross permissions on the forums will enable more discussions. It concerns me when I'm on the boards and there are questions that go unanswered. As admin I can see who is on and what lines they carry.

For those lurkers, want to make it a better place, post a questionb now and then. I'm sure you're not a know it all and I'm sure your fustrated with getting answers to your questions from either sales, admin or direct.

We are here to help each other in a common goal, to know more, sell more and support our families with financial well being.
