We want to know if anyone is experiencing the same problems we have been for years with the 350/450; 1035/1045 & 2035/2045 series. Our techs say these machines are horrible with dusting (i.e. toner everywhere), drums not lasting for anywhere close to full life,, develpoer not lasting anywhere close to full life, and the machines not going reliably from PM to PM. An old service guy from Ricoh (who is no longer there) told us that these machines do have a problem. But Ricoh's offical answer is there is no problem, we are the only ones experiencing these problems, no one else. Let me know. Thanks

While these systems do tend to have this problem it seems to me that if service is doing a good job then it shouldn't be of the magnitude that they are saying. I know that our service department does quarterly cleanings on all of our customers on a service agreement and they can address the problem then.
I've been in copier biz since 1985 have seen LOTS of copiers come and go, some terrible (somebody mentioned the Ricoh 5560 the other day) some great (1022/1027,1015,2018,/551/700/1060/1075/2060/2075). ALL the new equipment is a billion times better than the equipment in the old days. A BILLION. Really , the Ricoh equipment line is amazing. That having been said, the series you speak of, with the cleaning assembly above the drum, is not a real clean running machine. Drums should go close to specs, developer sometimes makes it, sometimes not. It just means you have to take your vaccuum with you more, but it is NOT a 1990 era 5560. There will be a replacement for this series, and then there will be some other machine that is just a bit weaker in the line up, and we'll complain about that one.Yeah, I complain. I just try to keep it to myself.
the 350 and the 1045 had a problem with the drum end seals, they would flatten out and you would dust at the ends. change those seals with the drum and you will see a much cleaner machine.also if the waste toner collects to long it will spill out mainly on the rear side which can also look like bad seals.

the 1045 dev roller on op side will build up a coating, ricoh modified the roller but same results. remove roller andscotch brite it clean, making sure it is clean before reinstalling, this will make the drum cleaning more efficiant on the op side.

the 2045 has some toner issues ricoh desided to make the worlds finest toner particles even finer to lower fusing temp. problem is machine struggles to maintain a good vsp value running dark. they say they had a bad lot of toner but in some locations i still have trouble.

the best thing to do is clean and adjust at every service call the parts will go to pm.

the over toning on the 2045 is also the reason you must change fuser cleaning roller around 60k
Ricoh's mid volume machines are the weak point for Ricoh. I work on Konica minolta and those are no picnic either. We use the BEI services compensation plan for our bonuses. The worst copier according to the BEI report is our 5645 Lanier model (Ricoh equivalent???). The only mid volume products that produce good revenue and reliability are the Bizhub c350/450 models.
