I have spoken to our printer DSM at Ricoh, we were talking about scan router lite and macs. Yes, I realize it can't be done. However, he mentioned that the printers have the capability for IP printing? A few questions.

1. Could we plug an Aficio 1022 w/scan router lite and have the docs directed to the printer for IP printing?

2. Is IP printing controlled by Smart Net Monitor?

3. Could there be a way to set a scan server next to the Aficio 1022, scan to the desktop and then email to MAC's email address and then print (or would this take to long)? or could we do IP printing from the scan server that is the PC?

PS Posted on Aficio League Also, just so I can get to 50K in hits! How foolish of me, however........

Well...

1. Could we plug an Aficio 1022 w/scan router lite and have the docs directed to the printer for IP printing?

? i dont understand this question, if you have a mac, you dont have SRL, if you are scanning the document and then immediately printing it out... isn't that normally called "copying"?

2. Is IP printing controlled by Smart Net Monitor?

If you are on a Mac, you dont have Smart Net Monitor. On OS8 & 9 you use "Desktop Printer Utility" for IP printing, on OSX you use "Print Monitor"

3. Could there be a way to set a scan server next to the Aficio 1022, scan to the desktop and then email to MAC's email address and then print (or would this take to long)? or could we do IP printing from the scan server that is the PC?

If you have a PC, sure you can scan to it, and if you can then email to the Mac, sure you can print from it. Yes, you can also print from the PC either over IP or any other way the 1022 supports.

Still confused, you seem to be asking if you can scan something on a 1022, save it to PC desktop, email it to a mac, open it on mac, and print it back to 1022... wouldn't it be easier to just hit the big green button? Smile

Jason:

If my post seems confusing it probably is because I am when it comes to Mac's and some of the scan router lite issues. Here's what I would like to do.

There is an existing MAC network in a school that has forty class rooms, each class room has a mac that is on the network. The Server is a Mac, and the wiring is CAT 5 cable (all i know right now).

What I would like to do (don't know if it is possible), is to install a laser printer in every class room and have it connected to the network. From there, I would like to install a few 1022 w/ scanners or IS 330's. Have the 1022's or IS 330's work with scan router lite.

When a user scans a doc, they will select there destination on the display panel, each destination would be to the printer in the classroom. I was hoping that IP printing would allow us to do this and by-pass the MAC OS.

Its far fetched, but I figured I'd give it a shot. Could it be done with a PC scan server next to the Aficio 1022?

Thanx for the help.

No, this is not a capability of any of the ScanRouter Products.

Yes, with Version 5 of SmartNet.

What you are talking about would be basically doing a Network TWAIN Scan then you could do that.
With ScanRouter you can scan to the desktop and to email at the same time but no IP Printing supported.
