I speak to many peeps in the industry and lately the common thread from everyone is inventory.  Why is it that A4s from all the manufacturers seem to be the most difficult to get?  Seems A3s are flowing much better than A4's, there's still a decent wait with A3's but A4 time frames are frightening.  Could it be an effort from all to push more A3 devices and increase revenues because of the higher dollar amount?

Would love to hear from others on this

You nailed it on the head Art.

Kyocera sent a letter to dealers updating everyone on the back order delays including production delays on critical fusing components across their line and extended shipping times from China to US.  But they mentioned that they're prioritizing production on their A3 products because it has a higher impact on revenue.

I assume this is the case for all manufacturers.

Wow!!

It was explained to me that manufacturers strategize manufacturing of machines and components way in advance.  When covid hit manufacturers underestimated the demand for machines, particularly A4.  I don't know about you guys but since about 2 months into covid we have been selling machines like crazy.  Once inventories got depleted the manufacturing was lagging due to manufacturers miscalculating demand a year or more ago.  Add to that shipping issues and the fire at the chip factory and now you have a perfect storm.
