HP facing lawsuit over Instant Ink program
Claims that HP is cheating and misleading customers who signed up for program
- Suit filed in California federal court by attorneys Mark Javitch and Thomas
Zimmerman Jr.
- Complaints include:
o Cartridges not always sent in time, leaving customers waiting for days or
weeks without ability to use device
o Even if delivered on time, cartridges are sometimes faulty
o Prepaid mailers are not always sent to customers for returns
o If you cancel plan, unable to use remained of purchased ink/toner
o If you run out of ink/toner, and you purchase a cartridge, HP blocks you from
using it
o Devices display error messages that render them inoperable, even when ink
is available
o HP supposedly has told some people to throw out cartridges, rather than
recycling them
