The managed services provider (MSP) industry is booming. In fact, this community is expected to account for a significant 11 per cent of the $2.8tn ICT market worldwide by 2023. The explosion has been driven by an increase in spend on outsourcing IT, but some MSPs are still facing major challenges. Technology is becoming more complex, ecosystems are evolving, and security threats pose a very real risk. MSPs need to be in a position where they are able to assume the role of trusted advisor to their customers. The role of an MSP is fast-evolving from a simple break-fix relationship, which was typical ten years ago.

These challenges in the MSP community have had a knock-on effect with the MSP vendors. In order to provide the right tools to manage today's complex needs, the vendors themselves have evolved.
