Hey Vince

I was able to see these devices at ITEX about a month ago.  Quality is pretty good for inkjet with regular bond paper.   These systems are due to launch in September of this year.

So, HP was pitching this as "affordable color" and when I asked about an SMB account that needs high quality for marketing pieces.  I received the answer that the account should have two devices one for quality and one for "affordable". Personally, I see this and the new Epson 100PPM WorkForce as game changers with enterprise accounts.  Hospitals, Universities, Colleges, K12, and or any account where color does not have to leave the premises.

The Good:  Fast, large ink tanks, tiered billing, quality good

The Bad: Well at least for us, I was told that their 60ppm color device will equal the dealer cost of a 40 ppm color toner device.  Device Billing may be the next challenge for toner based copier dealers.  One monthly fee includes service, parts, and labor with unlimited clicks.  Customer pays for ink (this scenario could kick our ass).  You know the saying, if you can't beat em, then join em!

The Ugly:  If you still copy documents, the interface is not that user friendly and there are some common features that are not available.  Such as Mixed Sized Original Copying for Letter, Legal and Ledger is not available.  You can select letter and legal and letter and ledger (I think).  Ink yields are the unknown.

I'm having a talk with Espon tomorrow with the WorkForce 100PPM system, I hope to be posting more on that device in the next couple of days.
