Chicago, IL, (Press Release), October 26, 2008 – At Graph Expo, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging and office solutions, today unveiled its new black-and-white imagePRESS 1135/1125/1110 and imagePRESS C1+, the first color device with clear toner for the light production and proofing markets. In addition, Canon’s recently introduced imagePROGRAF iPF6000S and iPF6200 will be making their Graph Expo debut this week at the Canon booth (#3000).

“Our imagePRESS product line and award-wining imagePROGRAF large format printers have set the standard for image quality and productivity in the digital production and large format printing markets,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A.. “With their industry leading technology and innovation, such as the innovative use of clear toner on the imagePRESS C1+, the new products, along with the acceleration of our established channel strategy, will allow us to achieve maximum sales growth and maintain our market share position.”

Black-and-White imagePRESS 1135/1125/1110 Digital Presses

Designed to offer a high-quality digital black-and-white printing solution, while increasing profitability and productivity, the Canon imagePRESS 1135/1125/1110 can be custom configured with various finishing options at engine speeds of up to 135 pages-per-minute (ppm), 125 ppm and 110 ppm, respectively for letter-sized output. With a true resolution of 1200 X 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) and 256 tonal gradations, the new imagePRESS digital presses offer customers the ability to tailor their presses to meet their specific printing needs without compromising quality, or desired speeds.

imagePRESS C1+

Based on the acclaimed imagePRESS C1, the imagePRESS C1+ continues to produce the highest quality color proofs, layouts and graphic imagery with the added feature of clear toner to offer exciting new possibilities for design. With printing speeds up to 14 ppm for letter-sized color output and up to 60ppm for black and white and up to 40ppm clear printing jobs, the new imagePRESS has the ability to handle a wide range of paper stocks including coated and textured media. This is due to a unique paper management system called the Media Library that can be customized for each paper utilized by the device, allowing printing environments to save templates for future and repeat printing jobs.

In addition, Canon has two new finishing accessories for imagePRESS digital presses. The new Two-Knife Trimmer – A1, which will be available in November 2008, enables three-sided trimming of full-bleed, saddle-stitched booklets together with the already available Booklet Trimmer-C1 and Saddle Finisher-AB2, enabling higher productivity to grow a business. The new Professional Puncher-B1, which will be available in January 2009, allows for hole punching of eight common die patterns, including plastic comb, twin loop wire and ProClick, allowing for the production and finishing of a variety of jobs in-line without operator intervention.

imagePRESS Workflow Solutions Program

As part of its imagePRESS Workflow Solutions Program, Canon has expanded relationships with Objectif Lune and RSA for transactional printing, and X-Rite for color management solutions. Canon has also entered into new relationships with Standard Finishing Systems for promotion of Horizon finishing equipment, and DigiLabs and Unibind for digital photobook solutions. These expanded relationships will help drive productivity and versatility for customers, enabling increased functionality.
