Fujitsu ships new high speed scanner

Ricoh bought the scanner division of Fujitsu for $625 million

  • In 2017, Fujitsu announced it had placed 10 million scanners worldwide
  • Now offering the fi-8170 to replace the fi-7160
    • Claims to have over 1 million fi-7160 scanners installed
  • 32 patents in design

  • Scans both sides of original at same time
    • 140ipm top scan speed or 70opm
    • 600x600dpi
      • Interpolated to 1200x1200dpi
      • Max of 8.5”x14” original size
      • Long page scan up to 240”
      • Handles up to 465gsm or 1.44mm plastic cards
      • Blank page detection
      • Hole punch removal
      • Index tab cropping
      • Deskew, descreen, vertical streak reduction
      • Background pattern removal
  • ASC (automatic separation control) to sense paper weights
  • Comes with PaperStream IP software which offers TWAIN/ISIS driver
    • Cleansup and optimizes scanned images
    • PaperStream Capture offers OCR to index and sort
      • ABBYY FineReader OCR
      • Support for 2D and 1D barcodes
  • USB and 10/100/1000BaseT ports
