Error when scanning to email on 2022SP

I keep on getting this error:

SMTPC: Connection Closed (501) and sometimes the numbers at the end are 701 or 801.

I have setup my laptop with the exact same settings and set up outlook express and it worked but the email always when the copier gets hooked up.

Please help...we are thinking it is the NIB and are going to swap it.

Hard to tell exactly what you're talking about mike.
The error can mean a lot of things, one is dropping packets. Reseating the NIC might resolve that if that is the issue. It may also be a router or switch problem.
I havent seen this error or for that matter any problems with scan to anything with this model.
501 could also be a misconfigured SMTP connection or MFP.
Maybe you can put the baby down long enough to compose a better question?

So, you are saying that the users PCs are giving this code on their network but when you put your laptop on the same network you dont get the code and the mail you send from the MFP works OK?
