Nuance software now owns both Equitrac and CopiTrak. It appears possible that Nuance might be considering doing something with their Equitrac franchise in favor of focusing their resources on CopiTrak.
We recently called Nuance looking for assistance on configuring five copiers for a law firm quote that has been using Equitrac for many years. Our tech rep from Nuance suggested that over a five year lease, CopiTrak had the best long term viability.

Equitrac Professional does not support Windows 8 Copitrak is very expensive. There are cheaper billback solutions on the market that will do the same job
This law firm will probably adopt Win 8 only when they are forced to ten years from now. They seem very loyal to Equitrac as it integrates directly with PC Law, their Time and Billing system.
I don't think there is a Billback solution out there that does not integrate with PC Law, or ESI law. or Juris.

I won a deal this week competing against 2x Ricoh 65 cpm at a law firm with Equitrac embedded into the control panel with two Toshiba's with external keypads. Equitrac will install their part of the deal via "remoting in".
