eCopy Announces Worldwide Connector Developer Program

Software Vendors, Value-Added Resellers, System Integrators, and Corporate IT Can Now Integrate Paper Documents with Enterprise Applications

Nashua, New Hampshire, February 25, 2003 – eCopy, Inc., a leading provider of products that transform paper documents into digital information, today announced their eCopy Connector Developer Program. The program is available immediately for all developers wishing to integrate paper documents with enterprise applications using the eCopy ShareScan Connector Software Developer Kit (SDK). A “Connector” is the link between an eCopy-enabled scanning device (a document scanner or Canon digital copier) and a networked software application or service.

Using the eCopy SDK, developers build connectors to merge their hardcopy paper documents with business process applications right from their Canon digital copier or scanner. eCopy has already built several connectors to key business applications and is now opening up the technology to allow other firms to integrate paper documents with applications.

“The eCopy ShareScan Connector SDK let us build a new way for customers to use our application and more efficiently manage their every day business processes,” said Chris MacKenzie, vice president of marketing and business development for Biscom. “The SDK was very easy to use and we were able to develop the FAXCOM connector quickly. Now users can fax documents directly from their Canon digital copier or scanner, while transparently taking advantage of Biscom's reliable enterprise fax server on the back end.”

The following Connectors, developed by current members of eCopy’s Developer Program, are available today directly from the manufacturer or from their authorized resellers:

· The Millennium Connector for ShareScan
· The ScanFile Connector for ShareScan
· The NetGram ePAD Connector for ShareScan
· The ADOS Connector for ShareScan
· The FAXCOM Connector for ShareScan

Other members of the program include Danka Office Imaging and Legato.

"Using the Millennium Connector for ShareScan from Convergent EDM has greatly simplified the process of capturing and managing our scanned documents,” said Katina Stockbridge, office manager with Lipstein, Jaffe & Lawson LLP, Washington, DC. “We've found it very useful to have the ability to scan multiple documents simultaneously and have them all automatically routed to the proper locations within Millennium. Instead of having scanners at every desk, we can now scan from a shared resource with no more effort then using a traditional copier."

The eCopy Connector Developer Program is available to customers and partners worldwide where eCopy products are currently sold. Applicants are required to submit an online Developer Program Application, sign eCopy’s SDK License Agreement, and must possess the following skills to successfully utilize the SDK:
· Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 experience
· Familiarity with COM based applications
· Knowledge of the application to be integrated with eCopy ShareScan

“The traditional office copier and scanner have taken on new meaning in today’s business world,” said Dana Mitchell, senior director, strategic marketing and alliances, for eCopy, Inc. “They are giving companies a new and highly cost effective way to move paper down the hall or around the world. eCopy customers are uncovering a great deal of savings by changing the way they handle and distribute paper and now we can offer those customers and new users a greater selection of eCopy connected solutions.”

The eCopy Suite, coupled with the high-speed scanning capabilities of a Canon digital copier or scanner, enables any organization to transform paper documents into information that is easily integrated into commonly used business applications. Using the eCopy Suite, companies can provide open access to high-speed scanning that connects to the company’s e-mail and other networked enterprise applications for low-cost, easy, instantaneous distribution and management of electronic copies of paper documents.
