St. Albans Man Gets 15 Years for Fake Money

A St. Albans man was sentenced Wednesday to 15 months in prison on charges he used fake money.

Kevin Erwin, 34, previously admitted that in Jan. 2010 he used a counterfeit $50 bill at McNally's Pub in Cross Lanes.

Erwin also admitted to receiving about $45 worth of authentic bills in change.

Police arrested Erwin Jan. 18 at a local motel where they found more fake currency.

Police say they found a scanner, copier and printer in the hotel room that were used to make counterfeit bills.

No fault of Art's but the article had a mistake. In one place it says "15 years" and in the next it says "15 months". Also, there is not a copier in this story.

Man gets 15 months for counterfeit money

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A St. Albans man who pleaded guilty to passing counterfeit cash will spend a little more than a year in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver sentenced Kevin T. Erwin, 34, to 15 months in prison Wednesday, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office.

Erwin admitted in January 2010 that he and an associate, whose name has not been released, passed a counterfeit $50 bill at McNally's Pub in Cross Lanes. Erwin received $45 in change from the purchase.

He was arrested Jan. 18, 2010 at a local motel. Erwin had counterfeit cash in his possession when police arrested him. Items used to make counterfeit money were found in the room.
