Does Xerox still have Xerox Financial Services? I think not, they subcontract to GE Capital? Is not GE Capital trying to get out of the copier business?

Who does Canon use?

Who does Ricoh/ IKON use?

Who does Konica Minolta use?

Who does Pitney Bowes use?

For all of these vendors, do they actually operate their own Leasing Company or do they subcontract it out to someone like CIT or DLL and put their brand name on their leases.

In Canada, I have the strong impression that GE is trying to get out of the "small ticket" copier leasing business.

Just last month, we did a Balance of Payments on a GE lease with a differnet leasing vendor (MCAP). Once we were funded, we gave the customer a cheque. The customer promptly paid GE.

GE came back this week asking for a $400.00 Premium fee for early contract cancellation. The customer refuses to pay it.

As this fee was not documented anywhere that we can find in the original lease, I do not think GE has much recourse but to waive it.

I am sure from GE's point of view if they send out 5,000 of these Fees and 2,000 customers automatically pay it, that is an extra $800k profit.

GE is also directly offering the customer a buy out on the equipment cuttiing out the original selling dealer. GE does not want the equipment back.
Canon has Canon Financial Services - which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon. This is a true captive program with Canon financial servicing the majority of the leases they originate

Ricoh - Most of Ricoh's leases are sold to 3rd party leasing companies (GE, DLL, CIT, Wells) on a private label basis. Ricoh does have Ricoh Financial Services which is a true captive, but it only takes a small portion (Major Accounts) of the leases that are originated by Ricoh

Ikon - they utilize Ikon Financial Services which which used to be a captive, but was sold to GE Capital.

Konica Minolta - they utilize 3rd party leasing programs with USB, CIT, GE and DLL

Pitney Bowes - True Captive leasing with Pitnet Bowes Global Financial Services
