I have a Brother fax 560, and it uses the thermal imaging rolls.

I just had to recieve a fax at my home office and noticed the thermal roll ribbon was expired. I had to "re-roll" the thermal ribbon to get my fax (yes, I'm thrifty). I got the fax in and the print was horrendus because of re-using the the thermal ribbon!.

However, here's what I noticed. I have my system set to print reports. As I was re-rolling I noticed a stretch of confirmation reports. I guess I must have sent 1-12 faxes in a row before I recieved any.

With these machines once the confirmation report is turned on, it uses a 13 inch cycle for the confirmation report. As a matter of fact, the ribbon advances 13 inches for every letter size document.

So for every 6 receptions the Brother is wasting an entire letter cycle.

Someone who crunches numbers will love this. Guess thats why the box says the yeild is "UP TO 200 PAGES"! Plus the cost of the confirmation report!!
