Tuesday July 20, 8:00 am ET

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2004--Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX - News) has been selected to produce and manage more than 10 million documents in on-site print centers at the 2004 Democratic and Republican National Conventions.
Both political parties will use Xerox high-speed digital color and black-and-white printing technology, advanced multifunction systems, supplies, paper and 24-hour support at their conventions.

"These conventions are among the most document-intensive events in the world," said Michael Mac Donald, president, Xerox North American Solutions Group. "Our strength in providing efficient, short-term services for both committees' printing and office needs - coupled with our ability to manage the entire process on-site - made Xerox the only choice to tackle such important events."

At the Democratic National Convention, held July 26-29 at the Fleet Center in Boston, Xerox will provide equipment, supplies and people to support on-demand printing of millions of documents. Using four Xerox production-publishing systems, capable of producing up to 180 black-and-white pages per minute, convention organizers will print materials including press releases, daily conference agendas, news articles and platform speeches. Xerox's advanced office multifunction systems and network printers will be used to print, copy and scan documents.

A fleet of 10 Xerox production-publishing systems will be used to produce a calendar of events, media guides and speeches at the Republican National Convention, held Aug. 30-Sept. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The RNC is also using Xerox multifunction systems to print high-quality color proofs of convention collaterals to preview prior to mass production. The preview process helps committee organizers reduce the chance of error, saving on materials, time and cost.

To help both parties with the high volume of documents supporting the conventions, Xerox people will be on-site to ensure smooth production and document quality as well as to monitor and maintain supplies such as paper and toner.

Xerox has had a role in supporting each party's convention with document services, equipment and supplies since 1988.

The company's short-term rental and event services experts provide Xerox technology and services at hundreds of events each year, including annual meetings, training seminars, trade shows, conferences, and entertainment and sporting events.
