It has a belt that passes over the DVU's (not sure if that's a single or quad pass) then transfers to another belt which lays it all down in one pass on the paper. It doesn't have the slight halo effect that is seen on the DSc38S/3800CMF, because of this.

I have a .ppt (2.4Mb) if you want me to e-mail it to you. Key old/new feature is the Auto color detection for copying. From the samples I've seen, looks prety good. Supposedly lower cpc, as well.

Cheers,
Jim Stocker

What are your opions on print quality of CL5000? I am very disappointed so far. I hope the 1224/1232C's have better color output. 2bit color of this machine using PS on Mac OSx is not even close to the 1 bit on the 3800C. I know it is a 4pass vs a 1pass. Is that the big differnce? I hope the output of the 3000CL is closer to the quality of the 3800. Any comments?

This is Slide 30 of the CL 5000 Launch ppt.
It shows bit and resoulution of printers. I hve found that the CL5000 is way too red and very grainy compaired to the 3800C. Be aware of this before proposing to propective customers that have see or are using the 3800c output. I can't wait to see real world output of the 1224/1232c output. Ricoh still is number 1 in my book.
