HACKENSACK – The former chief executive officer of Garfield’s Boys and Girls Club will be sentenced Friday for stealing a $98,000 copy machine from the organization. 

Authorities arrested and charged Todd Vanderpool with theft by deception in 2017 after he created a false impression to obtain the Copy Star photocopy machine. Vanderpool, 38, had served as the program's director, and was previously the club’s interim CEO in 2013. 

He was employed as an administrator at Stevens Cooperative School in Hoboken at the time of his arrest. 

Vanderpool will be sentenced in Hackensack before Judge Frances McGrogan. . 

Board of Trustees at the club reported Vanderpool to police when they became aware of the incident, Board Trustee John Eason told The Record in July 2017.

"We don't want any members or donors to feel there isn't a watchful eye. We are committed to the highest standards and took the appropriate actions,” he said
