Canon UK has secured a position on the Procurement Scotland Framework, meaning that it is now a key approved supplier of products and services to the entire Scottish public sector.

The framework was launched in June 2009 following a number of strategic objectives laid down by the Scottish Government to reform the way the Scottish public sector procures office equipment and services. Changes to this process ensure that tax payers’ money is spent as wisely as possible on the highest quality of goods and services. The framework also guarantees a move towards a smarter and greener Scotland through increased efficiencies for public sector organisations and by using suppliers with a proven record of environmental credentials.

During the period of the framework, Canon will supply Managed Print Services, managed print strategies and items such as photocopiers, printers and scanners to all public sector departments including local authorities, central government, health, higher education, fire and police. Canon will be supported by Concept Group - its premier Scottish partner – to provide the necessary customer service and support to public sector customers.

Competitive prices are agreed under the framework and the introduction of print fleet management will reduce overall spending on hardware so that the right mix of devices is deployed in each organisation. Canon will also provide the most suitable solution to help customers reduce the burden of their printing needs on the environment, through energy efficient technology; reduced levels of waste through Canon’s recycling schemes for printers and toners; and managed user behaviour, the latter of which will result in a more efficient workforce and lower printing volumes.

Matthew Norton, Director, Corporate and International Channel, Canon UK & Ireland, said: “At a time when economic prosperity in Scotland needs to be taken hand-in-hand with cost savings, the environment and efficiency, it is vital that procured solutions offer the best value and quality to its customers, whilst helping the Scottish Government reduce the public sector’s local and global environmental impact.

“Canon has a proven track record in providing cost savings and environmental benefits through Managed Print Services and innovative print management solutions, both in the public and private sector in Scotland and the rest of the UK,” continued Norton. “It is this experience which has been crucial in Canon being awarded as an approved Procurement Scotland supplier.”

Colin Paterson, Chairman, Concept Group said: “As a Scottish company ourselves, we are able to provide the necessary local support and service to public sector organisations throughout Scotland, including the Highlands and the Islands. Working with Canon under the new framework will bring additional prosperity to the local area, whilst increasing employment opportunities within Concept Group and opening up the opportunity for us to tender for more Scottish public sector contracts in the future.”
