Canon U.S.A. Inc. has announced the new imageRUNNER 1400 Series of MFPs, the company's most compact black-and-white imageRUNNER MFP lineup to date.

The imageRUNNER 1400 Series includes the imageRUNNER 1435iF and 1435i MFP models. The series incorporates enhanced design features from previous models, such as a larger five-line user interface for increased visibility and a USB port located on the front of the device for added convenience for printing from and scanning to memory media. Ideal for customers that need high-quality letter and legal-sized documents, these devices feature a fast output of up to 37 pages per minute (ppm).

"Customers — from the small to medium-sized business to the large enterprise department — are demanding a better total cost of ownership (TCO) when it comes to business equipment acquisitions," said Amy Machado, senior research analyst, IDC. "The Canon imageRUNNER 1400 series brings that TCO benefit to its customers. In building the devices, Canon has focused on creating a better user experience on a reliable engine. Performance gain that comes with higher uptime and larger toner capacity, this series is a product the Canon dealer will be happy to have in his arsenal."

To bring a new level of print security and output management solutions to its users, all models in the series support solutions to help meet individual business process needs, including an embedded uniFLOW client that connects to Canon's exclusive uniFLOW software for user ID or card-based authentication, print security, follow-me printing, and output management and reporting. Users can also benefit from mobile print support by using uniFLOW Mobile Printing or the Canon Mobile Print app, for on-the-go printing from a tablet or smartphone.

"Designed to meet customer demands, the new series offers an efficient product design with high-yield and easy-to-replace consumables, and outstanding output performance to help deliver high uptime and consistent productivity," said Junichi Yo****ake, vice president and general manager of marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. Inc. "The addition of the imageRUNNER 1400 Series to Canon's imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE product line allows Canon to offer a complete line of strong products ranging from low- to high-end to color or black-and-white that deliver consistency in usability, device management and support of Canon's strong solutions, software and services."

To help businesses achieve their maximum productivity, each of the models includes Canon's efficient UFR II LT printing as standard for crisp, black-and-white output. To support a range of customer print needs, the imageRUNNER 1435iF model also includes standard PCL and Adobe PostScript printing, while the imageRUNNER 1435i model has PCL and Adobe PostScript as available options. The imageRUNNER 1435iF and 1435i MFP models also include standard color scanning, supporting a range of capabilities such as Compact PDF for reduced network traffic, Searchable PDF for efficient reuse and indexing of documents, Scan to USB and LDAP corporate address book lookup.

The imageRUNNER 1400 Series offers a new Defined & Quick Fixing (DQF) toner to help achieve high image quality and fast print speeds, while also reducing energy use for lower electric bills. This large toner bottle means less frequent supply replenishment and combined with the high-yield imaging drum design, helps improve uptime and deliver an excellent TCO.

Integrating with Canon's solutions portfolio and Canon's Enterprise Management Console, with its tools for easy device management, the devices can serve and be managed as strong standalone solutions where space may be limited and desktop placement is required, or as part of a larger fleet of devices. This integration can help ensure device management consistency and the ability to streamline workflows to help deliver broad support for managed document services (MDS) and fleet operations.

Available now through authorized Canon Dealers, the imageRUNNER 1435iF MFP features standard copy, send, faxing, UFR II LT, PCL and Adobe PS printing for the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,870. The imageRUNNER 1435i MFP features copy, send and UFR II LT print capability for an MSRP of $1,560; PCL and Adobe PostScript are options.
