LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. & IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 2003--
Software Module for Unicenter NSM Now Available

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ - News), and NETAPHOR Software Inc. today announced an agreement where Canon U.S.A. will make available an integrated software module based on NETAPHOR's MetaConsole technology. The solution will allow IT Administrators to better monitor, manage, and control their imageRUNNER and imageCLASS devices directly within their Windows based version of Unicenter NSM from Computer Associates International, Inc (CA).

Java-based MetaConsole enables easy management of a wide variety of network devices, like Canon's imageRUNNER line, within the leading network management consoles such as CA's Unicenter NSM, which provides superior management of the health and availability of the heterogeneous computing infrastructure.

"IT managers who use Unicenter NSM to manage their overall network now have the ability to use those same powerful tools to manage their networked Canon digital copiers, which are becoming pervasive throughout large corporate enterprises," said Dennis Amorosano, director and assistant general manager of Canon U.S.A.'s Integrated Business Systems Division. "Adopting MetaConsole preserves in-house development resources while providing users with a proven solution."

"The IT market is all about choices these days," observed NETAPHOR president Rakesh Mahajan. "Enterprises that choose Canon U.S.A.'s outstanding products now have, through MetaConsole, still another option for managing them."

MetaConsole has recently achieved CA smart certification for its tight integration with CA's Unicenter NSM.

Customers will be able to obtain the free MetaConsole client module as a download from Canon U.S.A.'s Web site at www.usa.canon.com. Supplemental components for managing networked devices are also available, free of charge, for Canon customers from NETAPHOR's Website. In addition to digital copiers, the growing list of MetaConsole-manageable devices also includes other networked devices such as switches and routers, and storage devices.
