Canon to extend Duplo partnership at Ipex

Canon has extended its partnership with digital finishing manufacturer Duplo International after announcing that the company is to be its strategic pan-European finishing supplier at this year's Ipex exhibition.

Japanese digital manufacturer Canon aims to demonstrate to digital printers how they can harness complementary technology to add value to the work they produce at the event in Birmingham.

Duplo will showcase six products at Canon's stand in Hall 10, including its Ultra 205A UV Coater and Digital System 445 Bookletmaker.

It will also exhibit products such as its DB-280 Perfect Binder within Canon's Graphic Arts zone and Central Reprographic Department zone.

According to Mark Lawn, European marketing manager at Canon Europe, finishing "fits perfectly" with the company's goal of making printers more efficient and profitable.

"Print finishing is becoming more automated and it is a real opportunity to add value to a print job, whether through a quicker turnaround or by enhancing the quality of the finished printed product," he said.

The latest tie-up between the two companies builds upon the distribution agreement signed at the last Ipex in 2006.

Tony Lock, managing director at Duplo UK, added: "We see ourselves as an integral part of the production workflow and believe our innovative finishing devices can complement the pre-press and press solutions on show."
