Canon announced the latest addition - the monochrome, multifunction 5050n - to its imageRunner line of printers today.

The new imageRunner 5050n features Canon’s next generation imageCHIP system, print speeds up to 50 pages per minute and scanning speeds up to 65 images per minute.

Targeted at businesses who want high volume quickly, the 5050n is equipped with standard network capability, a duplexing automatic document feeder, Printer Control Language (PCL) and Canon’s proprietary Ultra Fast Rendering II (UFR II).

For businesses that use PostScript 3, there is an optional PS Printer Kit-R1.

The imageRunner 5050n also allows users to add pre-printed color or black-and-white covers and the capability to Z-fold up to 11” x 17” paper sizes with their document insertion/folding unit.

The printer is set up with a number of security features including the Access Management System (AMS) that sets restrictions and only allows access to assigned groups. It is also Energy Star certified.

The imageRunner 5050n is available now and will retail for $14,000
