Canon Introduces Compact imageRUNNER 1700 Series MFPs Offering Businesses Powerful Fleet Management Capabilities

New Models Offer Sophisticated, Ultra-Compact Productivity and Manageability


LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., September 8, 2011 – Developed to extend the renowned Canon imageRUNNER MFP platform to businesses seeking an advanced workgroup print solution, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in advanced digital imaging, today announced the imageRUNNER 1700 Series lineup of monochrome multifunction office systems. Offering seamless integration within existing Canon print fleets, the easy to deploy, easy to manage Canon imageRUNNER 1700 Series improves resource utilization as an alternative for multiple desktop laser printers while helping IT administrators harness Canon's powerful workflow tools. A compact, high-speed multifunction office system, the imageRUNNER 1700 Series allows customers using black-and-white printers (SFPs) and MFPs in the 30-55 page per minute (ppm) range to implement a flexible print solution that offers the ability to increase fleet cohesiveness across a network.

With a compact footprint that is ideally suited to both desktop and floor-standing placements, the imageRUNNER 1700 Series offers businesses the reliability and uptime necessary to improve productivity. To enhance device functionality and accessibility, the imageRUNNER 1700 Series delivers a series of technologies that include powerful color scanning/sending technology and enhanced device access and navigation through a large, monochrome 5.7-inch LCD touch panel featuring with accessibility enhancing tilting capability.

Facilitating system monitoring and usage control, the imageRUNNER 1700 series allows network administrators to utilize authentication and enterprise management utilities, including imageWARE Enterprise Management Console, that are critical to MPS services. The imageRUNNER 1700 Series also extends effective control of an entire printer fleet and heightened document security within an office through available features including: uniFLOW Serverless Secure Printing; uniFLOW server integration with card or PIN Code authentication, Cost Center selection, extensive reporting capabilities, as well as standard Secured Print* and user authentication for sending.

The Canon imageRUNNER 1700 Series is comprised of six models in three incremental speeds, divided into base and "iF" configurations.


•imageRUNNER 1750/1750iF: High-speed model providing output speed of up to 52 ppm; scan speed of up to 52 ipm for B/W (600 dpi) and color (300 dpi)
•imageRUNNER 1740/1740iF: High-speed model providing output speed of up to 42 ppm; scan speed of up to 52 ipm for B/W (600 dpi) and color (300 dpi)
•imageRUNNER 1730/1730iF: Low-speed model providing output speed of up to 32 ppm; scan speed of up to 32 ipm for B/W (600 dpi) and color (300 dpi)

All imageRUNNER 1700 Series devices are equipped with one 550-sheet capacity cassette as standard, handling up to legal-sized media. Up to three optional cassettes can be added for a maximum paper capacity of 2,300 sheets, including stack bypass tray capacity (of 100 sheets). All the models offer UFRII LT for printing, 512MB RAM, Color scanning capabilities, Color Send and a single USB host port. imageRUNNER 1700 Series models are ENERGY STAR qualified. "iF" models are equipped with additional print and network scan functions, which are also available options for base models including: PCL and Post Script (emulated) printing; Searchable PDF; and Fax capability.

The new imageRUNNER 1700 Series are expected to be available for customer delivery in October 2011 through Canon Authorized Dealers and Canon Business Solutions. The manufacturer's suggested retail prices will be:
