A real interesting concept from Lexmark

https://smartsolutions.lexmark.com/ssds/

You can basically upload dozens of free premade Templates with nice graphics into your MFP to simplify various tasks. Lexmark has opened up their SDK to any software developer to create new Templates and possibly charge a fee for download.

This seems like a real reason why you might want your MFP connected to browse the internet.

I am learning about scanning to the cloud from any MFP via email by opening a free account at www.box.net

A business class Box account costs $15.00 month.

You can even scan directly and securely to the cloud from your Ricoh MFP(to Microsoft Online, Office 365 BPOS, SharePoint). Just take a look at www.udocx.com or at our blog http://blog.udocx.com (you can find an articel about the security
issue there as well). If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.
This pretty much sums it up...

Look forward, reason back. How many of us have big generators in the parking lot because we like to be in control of our own electrical uptime? Very few. Walk into any business and ask to meet the IT team. Now tell me you have more faith in those guys or gals than you do in an audited, bonded, billion dollar organization dedicated to storing your encrypted data and serving it to you at high-speed and high-availability anywhere in the world on any device.
I just watched a video from the investment website called Motley Fool. They are stating that Cloud Computing is the next big thing to invest in.

http://www.fool.com/shop/newsl...rce=irbsitlnk0000141

and point out the big three "Top Dogs & First Movers"

They compared the early days of independent electrical producers to the large utilities we have today to the independently owned PCs and Networks of today to the future of cloud computing.

Consumers of computers will soon expect it to be like electricity, always available at low cost.

MFPs of the near future must become an on ramp to the Cloud.

And here's the rebuttal for my statement: http://www.govtech.com/securit...tch-Good-Idea-020711

However, I think the idea of an internet kill switch is rather silly as well. In order for the kill switch to be used, the country would have to already be in total rebellion.

No politician is going to throw a switch that costs the U.S. GDP billions a day except in the face of armed uprising.

maybe they will give all P4P members a free one year NFR subscription to learn their product!

I was'nt able to work that out however UDOXC will be onboard as a P4P sponsor starting the second quarter of this year. We will also be hosting webinars for everyone to get everyon familiar with the features of UDOXC.
Is 2012 the begining of the end for File Servers as more companies move to Cloud Storage?

http://storagenewsletter.com/n...-egnyte-file-servers

"Forrester found that 41 percent of information workers surveyed were using various unapproved online file storage and data services for work purposes."

"it poses a huge threat to data/file integrity and security, as unapproved tools store and share proprietary corporate data through the cloud without any IT oversight."
At $199.00 the Blackberry Playbook is the second best selling Tablet in Canada after the iPad. With the recent release of V2.0 software all Blackberry Playbook owners get a free upgrade to 50 GB of Storage on Box.net and can send an invitation to non owners to receive the same bonus.

Scan to Box.net via a customized email address from your MFP is easy to set up and free.
