BROOMFIELD, Colo., May 28, 2014 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. (BMS) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brother International Corporation and premier provider of mobile and desktop printing solutions, is responding to the rapid growth of the home healthcare and hospice market with a strong focus on its popular line of PocketJet® 6 mobile printers. The company announced it will showcase its mobile printing solutions at the Home Care & Hospice LINK Conference, June 3-5 in Chicago.

David Crist, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Brother Mobile Solutions, notes: “At the Home Care & Hospice LINK event we’ll discuss the significance of next-generation mobile printing and illustrate how point-of-care printing can help improve homebound patient communication and safety, while also helping to meet certain compliance mandates.” Sponsored by Lincoln Healthcare Group of Norwalk, Connecticut, Home Care & Hospice LINK provides an interactive forum for technology suppliers to showcase their offerings over two days of presentations and consultative meetings.

At the event, the Brother team will show how lightweight, compact and easy to use, PocketJet 6 mobile printers can help on-the-go home health service providers meet new EHR (electronic health record) mandates for accurate and timely reporting and documenting of healthcare services rendered, right at the point of care. Used in the field in conjunction with laptop and notebook computers, tablets or smartphones, PocketJet 6 printers provide high-quality, high-speed thermal printing of full-page documents such as: HIPAA releases, physician orders, continuity of care plans and schedules, medication information and instruction sheets, admission forms, consent forms and much more.

Growth in Home Care Population Drives Need for Mobile Printing Technology

The U.S. Administration on Aging’s Statistics on the Aging Population forecasts that the nation’s 65 and older demographic will double by 2030, reaching 20 percent of the total population.

An independent study by Kalorama Information, a leading market research firm, confirms these growth statistics, noting that our aging population of people over 65 is expected to reach 44 million in 2015, and more than 58 million in 2030. The study also found that the strongest rate of growth occurred in the hospice and home care segments, with each expanding by 7.5 percent per year.

Crist adds: “This rapidly increasing growth in the nation’s aging population, combined with healthcare costs and new government and industry mandates, are driving the growth of the home health and hospice markets. Keeping patients safe while meeting EHR adoption and meaningful use requirements is essential for today’s home health organizations. With their reliance on mobile technology, the need for robust printing solutions has never been more urgent, and we believe our PocketJet mobile printers are an ideal solution for helping them meet these demands.”
