I have a customer who just purchased a 240W and they are pretty unhappy with the CQ and have resorted to using our equipment only for check prints and their HP plotter for all final sets. The problem is the greyscale, fine lines, and shading. We switched things so that they are using the HP650 driver when they print from AutoCAD instead of our HDI drivers. This made some difference. If they save first as a PDF and then print the PDF using the HP650 driver, the quality is better yet but not exactly where it needs to be. They know that they will not get an "inkjet" image off of our machine but we think that we should be able to do better.

They use AutoCAD STB files which apparently screen the files and apply the results to the images. We have tried to adjust pen settings but this does not help and really pertains to CTB files, I think?

Anyone know what else we might do to make the files more acceptable? Thanks for any help.

We are having the same issue with a 480W, the customer believes the shading should be just as good as the ink jet, soory to day we do not even come close.

One architect told me to change the grayscale setting to black and then screen (percent) the black, this worked somewhat, however the customer believes that a $30K price tag should be better than his ink jet.

However, I had another architect tell me that he loves the screening and the hatchs that ware produced.

I'm at a loss where to go with my customer and he will probably not buy a Ricoh the next time around.

96% of my customers are happy with the 240W and the 480W, maybe we did too good of a job selling the unit?
