ASI Business acquires Advantage Copier

Dallas Business Journal
Print Email Reprints RSS Feeds CommentsAn area business that sells and repairs printers and related document-management technology has acquired another North Texas firm that specializes in selling, servicing and renting used copier equipment.

Terms of Dallas-based ASI Business Solutions’ acquisition of Carrollton’s Advantage Copier Equipment weren’t disclosed. Advantage had around 350 customer accounts and annual revenue approaching $500,000.

ASI will not retain Advantage’s three employees, and Advantage is being rolled into the ASI umbrella, ASI executives say.

“ASI is considering future acquisitions” that will expand its geographic reach in the Metroplex or boost its customer base or service offerings, said Randy Allen, the company’s vice president of marketing.

But the company will first digest the Advantage Copier deal, added Scott Wiggins, ASI’s executive vice president and co-owner. “We want to get through a 60-day window before we’d turn up the heat” on talks with other parties, he said.

ASI, which has 47 employees, sells and services copiers and printers. It also handles related document-processing hardware and software, such as mailing systems and shredders.

In addition to selling, repairing and renting used copier equipment, Advantage also provided related services and supplies to support those systems.

ASI executives say they did the purchase to bolster the business’ customer base and to expand the range of equipment they handle to include manufacturers like Toshiba, Xerox, Minolta and Canon.
