I've seen different information on Airprint on the web and I was wondering if anyone has set this up.

I have conflicting information. My general understanding is that it is a protocol like Bonjour that wireless devices such as Ipads and Iphones can print over. However, I've also read something to the effect that you can set up a Mac or Windows machine as a print server using an airprint application and print to any windows printer (of course you would need postscript for the apple products).

Does anyone have any experience?

Thanks!

jswinberlin,

EFI has a cool Mobile Printme app that can make any printer (not just an EFI rip) an Airprint printer (Doesn't require Postscript).

It's limitation is that if you can see the printer (IE. you can get on their wireless network) you can print to the printer that you set up. If you need a contact at EFI, let me know and I will hook you up.

I am also very excited about Canon's UniFLOW's "Secure Mobile Printing" That can be set up so that if you are a known user you can print, and if you are unknown, you can't print. It can also be set up to allow "guest" to print even if they don't exist in your Active Directory. Pretty cool stuff, but you have to sell Canon and UniFLOW.

Unfortunately no, I actually had a customer ask if we could supply it so am considering it but we would typically use an email based technology like ePrint or Pharos as its more device agnostic. I just cant see many sites being iOS exclusive
couple of items here, it's my understanding that the new "istyle" devices (anything with a "2" as the lasy digit in the model number) will accomodate air print, however the system does need pdf print direct and PSIII module. I'm trying to reverify this as I write this.

This is for Kiwispike: If you use the lantronix print server do you still need to have a ps module in the device?

Thanx
