Aficio 240W Paper Exit Problemsq

Has anyone ever had a problem with the paper exiting through the rear of an AFICIO 240W. I have one in the field where they use the rear exit tray to stack their plots, Let me say that is whay they would like it to do.

There is a major problem though. As the paper exits, it is fine until the last inch or so, and the Left side of the machine (left if you are standing in front of it by control panel) holds onto the corner for a split second after the other side is release.

The result is that the prints are falling behind the machine. my techs have told me that they have expunged their resources at RICOH saying that they know of this problem and there is no fix for it. It seems as if the pressure roller is just to tight. Has anyone else seen or heard of this issue, and were you able to overcome this.

This is a known issue by Ricoh, I am not aware of a mod upgrade at this point in time, however, I know tell all of my customers to have the copies exit to the top exit tray. I then tell them the benefit of "not having to bend over" to get their prints, plus the ease of use by removing the stacks from the top as they come out collated.

Thus siimple explanation has eliminated the rear feed exit problem issues with my accounts.

There are four mylars that can be installed on the rear tray as paper enters the tray. You can get them from tech support, still no guaranties. But, turn the problem into a positive note. Why do you want to bend over to get your copies? And, the bottom tray only holds 20 D size sheets, the upper tray holds 25.

Spacers inserted in the fusing section will correct this problem. One side of the fusing section is tighter than the other. I believe that this is a fix from Ricoh. We have done it and it works.

Wallin,

Can you help me, the service manager at my company laughed at your response, and one of my customers is getting irritated. Do you know where on the fuser you put the spacer, where did you get the spacer. Sorry for my ignorance but they don't believe it can be done and I think they are trying to fty me. I would love to have your help so I can let them know how to fix their problem. I appreciate any information you could supply me!

I am still trying to get a definative answer but it would appear they have put a 1mm to 2mm spacer behind the fuser section on the left side. They have also decreased pressure on the exit rollers and this has helped as well. If I learn more, I will let you know.

If you are printing 24x36 landscape, there are many factors that cause the prints to fall out incorrectly: gravity, static on the mylar strips, machine balance and what Wallin is talking about. I too have customers that were slightly peeved about this. Try to steer them toward the top tray and if they must use the rear, tell them to print portrait instead of landscape. The problem is there and my techs have worked on it and can get it to get for awhile, but then the same problems happen again for some machine, others never have problems with it. It is best just to avoid 24x36 going landscape in the back.
