Ah! It's good to live in New Jersey! I can't say that I'll say that too often.
Wide Format Monster Garage came to the Crown Point Hotel in New Jersey yesterday. There were two four hour work shops. We had the KIP3000, Xerox 6204, OCETDS320 and our beloved 240W. All of them were connected and ready to go.
We were able to perform hands on tests for copying, printing and scanning. It was awesome!
At one point in time we were the only player in the digital low end wide format market. As time came to pass all of the players have introduced models that were suppose to be equal or better to the 240W. In some instances some are, but in most cases they are not!
Let's take the KIP3000 and TDS320, all of these machines make you bend to get the documents out. Now the Xerox does not however, the Xerox is incapable of dropping copies or prints correctly into the front exit area, it will drop one perfectly and the others will fall on the floor, the user must stand and adjust every copy or print that exits the system.
Now there may be a way with the KIP3000 (but we could not find it), however we were not able to scan a multi page file into a single pdf file from the KIP request.
How bout the fact that if the embedded contraoller fails, that all functionality will be lost with the OCE, KIP and Xerox. That means no copy, no scan, and of course no print!
There were many more points about all of these systems, however I feel more confindent that our system is still superior to any of these systems when placed in low volume applications, and when speaking about applications, we all need to drill down with the customer and ask them about the lock out features that we have.
Such as:
- Ability to edit scanned drawings
- Benefits of the external controller over embedded
- Ease of use for toner replacement
- Two exit areas for copies or prints
- The ability to scan multi pages without having to remove each scanned page from the scanner area
- The ability to replot a drawing while you are at the system (plotbase)
- How fast we print and copy the first page
All in all Kudos to Steve, Linda, Shea and the rest of the gang for a great job!
