PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL 2019 REFLECTS STRONG
ASIAN PACKAGING AND PRINTING MARKETS

  The 7th edition of PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL at BITEC in Bangkok was a resounding success. Over 19,000 trade visitors from 62 countries attended the International Packaging and Printing Exhibition for Asia – a 15% increase compared to the 2017 staging. Over 30% came from overseas, with the majority traveling from India, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Myanmar. With 325 companies from 30 countries, exhibitor participation also increased by 10%. The trade show featured country group exhibits from Germany, China, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan.

   PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL was organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, The Thai Packaging Association and The Thai Printing Association and is modeled after the sectors’ leading trade fairs, drupa and interpack,, organized by Messe Düsseldorf in Germany.

   International visiting delegations traveled to PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL 2019 from the Korea Packaging Association, the Myanmar Paper & Pulp Association, the Myanmar Printers and Publishers Association, from Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The visitors represented a wide range of industries and application sectors, including printing, packaging converting, marketing, publishing and media as well as vertical markets and future technologies industry.     

  The trade fair featured several product premieres by global brands such as the worldwide launch of the offset press Speedmaster CX 75 by Heidelberg and Masterwork. A German-made machine for commercial, label and packaging printing packed with optimizations in the feeder, delivery and color configuration, the press was sold on the second day of the show along with all the machines on display at Heidelberg’s booth.
   Canon’s Southeast Asia introduced its Océ Colorado 1650, a 64-inch production graphics printer featuring two innovations in the form of a new flexible ink, and Océ FLXfinish technology. Three units were sold by the end of the first day of the exhibition.
   HP presented its end-to-end web-to-print solutions at the exhibition, including the debut of the HP Indigo 7000 sheet-fed digital offset color press to the Thai market. New was also the HP Digital Print Pavilion featuring real-life customer testimonials, case studies and the diverse applications of HP’s Indigo technology.
   Japanese brand OKI presented the newly launched label printers - the Pro1040 and Pro1050 – the world’s first, small single-cut label specialized printers. Other renowned packaging and printing companies displaying their products included Koenig & Bauer, Konica Minolta, Riso, Fujifilm, Ricoh, Bobst, KURZ, Zund, Fuji Xerox, SCG Packaging, Sansin, Selic Corp and PMC Label Materials.
    “Sales and business promotion activities remain at the heart of a trade exhibition and we are delighted that many successful business dealings and collaborations were formed right on the spot at PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL 2019.    Special features at PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL included the One Stop Pack & Print Pavilion, the Labelling Zone, the Prototype showcase, displays of product packaging designs by students of the Toyota Art Camp University and winning entries of the AsiaStar 2019 Awards. 

   The exhibits were supported by an extensive ancillary program consisting of over 50 events by 35 industry experts. More than 1,500 delegates took part in the ASEAN Printing and Packaging Conference held in conjunction with the ASEAN Printing Forum 2019, the Asian packaging seminar on sustainable packaging for the circular economy by the Asian Packaging Federation, the Food & Beverage Packaging conference, the 2019 Asian Print Awards, the workshop about professional product photography by Photo Business Association, Thailand, as well as technical presentations by the exhibitors.
